Austin Design Week 2018

Austin Design Week (ADW) was a week-long event with the mission of building an inclusive community that was a source of empowerment and inspiration for Austin’s creative problem solvers. Every year, ADW invited designers, organizations, agencies, and companies to host free workshops, studio tours, panels, talks, installations, and interactive events centered around an annual theme.

The Label Collective collaborated with Austin Design Week to provide a creative direction that supported their annual theme and extended the concept throughout their website, event, and wayfinding materials.

CHALLENGE

Austin Design Week aimed to create a brand identity that was both engaging for the local design community and accessible to the broader public. The identity needed to effectively promote a diverse array of events and workshops, capturing the collaborative and creative spirit of Austin’s design scene.

SOLUTION

The Label Collective developed a vibrant and approachable brand identity for Austin Design Week. This included a bold visual system with dynamic graphic elements and a bright color palette. The design was intended to be welcoming and to encourage participation from a wide audience, reflecting the inclusive nature of the Austin design community.

RESULT

The resulting brand identity successfully generated enthusiasm and participation in Austin Design Week. Its lively and accessible design effectively promoted the diverse program of events, contributing to a successful week that celebrated and engaged Austin’s thriving design culture. They expanded to include 90 design-oriented workshops, studio tours, and evening events that were free to the public. 

It's been such an amazing experience working with The Label Collective. Austin Design Week was a new organization, that needed a strong look and feel to communicate what we were building. It isn't easy designing a brand for designers, and The Label Collective rose to the challenge.

They really understood our mission, and what we wanted to communicate as a new organization, and built a strong brand for us around it. They helped us design the visual identity and all brand assets for Austin Design Week from the beginning, and have helped us keep a consistent brand, while designing for a new theme each year.

The Label Collective not only came up with the design vision, but helped us think about what assets we'd need and when, and help us stay organized throughout the year.

They are always responsive, proactive in anticipating our needs, and create beautiful designs that fit all our needs for Austin Design Week.
