What is The Label Collective?

We’re not an agency. We’re not a boutique. Like you, we’re two talented, motivated individuals who believe the best quality of work doesn’t necessarily come from the biggest companies. Instead, we use a virtual studio model to provide traditional and digital creative solutions in-house, while bringing in top-notch local small businesses who specialize in the greater needs of our prospective clients as needed.

We offer our services to startups, small businesses, nonprofits, and brands that believe design should be a partnership, not just another service; that even solopreneurs deserve a team of creative overachievers on their side to help turn their casual followers into avid fans.

Our Mission

  • To provide full-service agency offerings in the leanest form.
  • To offer quality work to those who can’t afford the higher ticket price tag but value design.
  • To work with those in the community who we know are smart individuals and can get the job done.
  • To never say no to a design challenge.
  • To focus on quality design – and leave the things we don’t know to the professionals.
  • To be honest and professional in our work.
  • To treat clients as partnerships and not, well… clients. And, work with clients that want to do the same.
  • To believe in the sense of community and the benefit of team discussion.

Our Core Team

Erin Pitts

Founder, Creative Partner

Erin graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and a Concentration in Interactive Media. She has been in Austin for 12 years, spending most of her time with interactive work. Erin spent over 7 years in the agency world as an Associate Creative Director and Senior Art Director, and ran her own design/freelance business for a year before running The Label Collective for the last 3 years.

She has had the opportunity to work with such clients such as Dell, JCPenney, UPS, ConocoPhillips, Reliant Energy, XO Group, Mozido, and Bazaarvoice, while also handling regional work, new business strategy, and user experience for other national clients.

Along with being a co-founder of The Label Collective and its full-time dedicated resource, she served for two years as President of AIGA Austin, a local chapter of a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the community about the value and importance of design, and served for two years on AIGA’s National Chapter Advisory Council. She also joined the Advisory Board for the Wine & Food Foundation of Texas in 2015.

Kristin Waddington

Founder, Creative Partner

Kristin also graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design. She has 12 years of experience, divided (almost equally) between small and large agencies. She spent five years at a boutique agency in New Jersey, where she moved up from Graphic Designer to Associate Creative Director within a year. She worked with clients in the pharmaceutical, collegiate, construction, and food service industries.

When she decided to move to Austin in 2008, she quickly found work in the large agency world and had the opportunity to work with a variety of local, regional and global clients – including Dell, Best Buy, Citi, Starbucks, and the Capital Metropolitan Transit Authority. She moved into The Label Collective full-time in June 2014.

Along with being a co-founder of The Label Collective, Kristin also volunteers her design talents for Dogtoberfest Austin, a yearly event dedicated to fundraising for Austin-based dog rescue groups and TEDxAustin. She also joined the Advisory Board for the Wine & Food Foundation of Texas in 2015.

Wonder Giant

Design • Development • Experiences

  1. A mythical being that appears when one desires to know, or create something.
  2. The creative design group formed in 2011 as a refuge for creatives from the traditional agency model, and dedicated to meticulously honing their creative powers.
They are an agile collective of creatives seeking to satisfy their Wonder Giant. They believe quality projects come from a balance of acknowledging your creative process, identifying a client’s needs, and honest communication between both parties. This can at times mean working when they work best, from where they work best, all for the purpose of a better end result.

Interactive Development

Also based out of Austin, Mashbox is a unique development agency/lab specializing in engaging applications and visualizations from any big data API. With a team of experts from concept through development, hosting, and optimization they help businesses create high-performance software in a scalable and repeatable way.
